5 keyboard shortcuts to turn you into a Chromebook pro

Chromebooks have become even more popular thanks to working from home. Working in the cloud is experienced as pleasant by many people and nowadays you can find a WiFi network almost everywhere to use (but do it as securely as possible). But you can also use the Chrome browser without a Chromebook, which is extremely handy. Want to use Chrome like a true pro? Then use these handy shortcuts.

1. New Tab in Chrome

Quickly open a new tab? No problem, you don’t have to do anything with the mouse or the touchpad: all you need is the Ctrl key and the T key. Press those at the same time and you’ll notice Chrome opens a new tab. If you also provide a smart start page, you will be where you need to be even faster. By the way, if you prefer to be incognito because you don’t want the website you’re surfing to appear in your history, you can press Ctrl+Shift+N to make that happen. If you want to consult your history and quickly open a website from your recent history, Ctrl+H works best. You can use the arrow keys, but also the touchpad by swiping to quickly reach the site you want to open.

2. Reopen a recently closed tab

Sit down, because this is probably the best key combination you’ll ever learn. Everyone has experienced it: you are completely absorbed in a session on Chrome and you click on it so eagerly that you accidentally close a screen: nooooo! Fortunately, you can quickly reopen a closed tab by using Ctrl+Shift+T. Did you accidentally close more than one tab in your enthusiasm: no man overboard, just repeat that button combo and previously closed tabs can be recalled too.

3. Save a Favorite

Do you already have Androidworld in your favorites? Sure, but if that’s not the case or there’s another website you’d like to bookmark for easy access, you can quickly add a favorite by pressing Ctrl+D on that site. If you press enter immediately, it will appear in the ‘general box’, but you can also select a specific folder to use your favorite. If you want to quickly go to your favorites, you can press Ctrl+Shift+O. If you don’t need to see your favorites bar, you can hide it with Ctrl+Shift+B.

4. Go to task manager

Sometimes a certain tab on Chrome is not going quite right. It just keeps loading and nothing happens. Just a hiccup. You can use task manager to specifically close that one tab. You do this by pressing Shift+Esc. This will only open Chrome’s task manager. It’s also nice to just do it every now and then and see which websites demand a lot from your computer. If you want to close a tab, select it with the mouse and choose ‘end process’. Then not all of Chrome is immediately closed, but only that one tab.

5. Provide feedback

If you constantly get the same error message or if you notice that something is not working properly within Chrome, you can easily send feedback to Google. Hopefully you don’t need this screen too often, but if you want to get rid of Google and report a problem, or have a brilliant idea for Chrome for example, you can press Alt+Shift+I (i) to open a feedback screen. to open. You can report bugs or suggestions for the browser here. Your message goes directly to the developers of the browser, making it a very direct way of communicating.
