Just because it’s Black Friday, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to shop at the best price by monitoring price fluctuations on Amazon.
If you are used to shopping on Amazon, you have undoubtedly noticed that the price movement is very volatile. From day to day, the price of a product can increase, sometimes from single to double. Sometimes even the price of an item can increase or decrease several times in the same day.
To make sure you get the best deal, there is an extension for Google Chrome and Firefox that can log a history of the different prices charged over a period of time for an item. Even better, it allows you to closely monitor the price of an item and be alerted automatically when a satisfactory price drop is made.
Monitor a price from a PC
1. Download the browser extension
Download the Keepa extension for Google Chrome or Firefox. Do not look for a menu or button to access parameters, Keepa is directly grafted on Amazon’s product pages.
- Download Keepa for Google Chrome (Free)
- Download Keepa for Firefox (Free)
2. Consult the price history
Go to the page of a product that you want to monitor and scroll down the page slightly.
You should see a new insert appear, the first tab of which displays the sales price history: Amazon prices in orange, new prices from third-party sellers in purple, and used product prices in black.
In the legend on the right, click Day, Week, Month, 3 Months, Year, or All to view the period of historical selling prices. By hovering over the graph with the mouse, Keepa displays the selling price at time T.
3. Start monitoring a product
To monitor the price of a product, go to the Track product tab. Decrease the maximum price at which you want to acquire the item sold by Amazon using the slider. If you wish, do the same with products offered by third-party sellers or used items.
Then click on the Start Tracking button, and create an account on Keepa to keep the history of your monitoring. You can also continue as a guest by clicking on Continue as Guest, but your data will not be kept if the browser is cleaned.
Then select a channel through which you want to get an alert when a price drop is detected and activate the notifications by flipping the switches to On.
4. Consult the monitoring dashboard
To check all products placed under surveillance, go to Keepa.com. Click Tracks, then click Tracking Overview.
Keepa displays the list of all monitored products with, for each, the graph showing the price history.
Monitor a price from an iPhone

First, download the PriceRadar app on your device. In its free version, PriceRadar allows you to monitor a maximum of 25 products. If that’s not enough for you, you can watch more with an in-app purchase.

2. Configure the default notifications
Open PriceRadar, go to Settings and enter the Default Notification menu. Then choose the value of the discount for which you want the application to automatically alert you on all the products you are going to monitor.
3. Start monitoring a price
The application includes a search engine to directly find a product to watch on Amazon. From the main PriceRadar tab, press the + button at the top right, enter the product name in the search bar, and select the store in which you want to launch your query (fr, for example). Once the product is found, tap it to add it to your watchlist.
Then enter the detail of the product sheet from your follow-up. PriceRadar displays, when available, the history of the prices charged for the product. Below, are displayed, the current price, and the price at which the application will send you a notification if it is reached.
To change it, enter the Notification menu and manually change the maximum price you want to spend. You can also choose to apply a preset discount of 5, 10, 25 or even 50% of the original price.
Finally, access the Be alerted menu. Natively, the application is configured to alert you when it finds your search among all sellers. You can, however, restrict notifications to only products sold and shipped by Amazon.
4. Track a price from the Amazon app
While PriceRadar offers to search for a product directly on Amazon to monitor its price, you can also track a product directly from the Amazon app on your iPhone.
To do this, press the share button displayed within the Amazon product page. In the share sheet, find PriceRadar and tap the icon. The product is, in principle, automatically added to your watchlist. You can check this by opening PriceRadar.
