Bollocks! New F1 calendar on the loose again

F1 calendar on the loose

Ah no huh. Just when we thought that the F1 calendar was taking on some solid shapes again …

I suspect that many people currently feel that we are slowly going back to ‘normal’ in society. Finally, after all this time that you have fought with your kids, you can go back to the physio to have your back fixed. After that it won’t be long before Arie Boomsma gets his way and you can nail that same back in the gym. And yes! We will also have real F1 races again soon!

At least that is the plan of Liberty Media, which recently announced the new start date of the F1 season of 2020. We start with two races in Austria and then we went to Great Britain for races on Silverstone. That is a good start of the season and then we can do a few races in the sandbox in winter. A beautiful resolution.

But unfortunately! The message has not yet cooled down or cold water is being thrown on it again. The Guardian believes that it knows that new anti-Corona measures are coming in Old Blighty. Tomorrow Boris Johnson would make it known to the people. Part of this would be a two-week quarantine for everyone entering the country. Britain is being hit with the virus quite hard. Even that silly EV fanb0i Boris himself and a few cabinet members got infected. So there is every reason to still take the danger very seriously.

This would pose a problem for F1. The races in Austria are scheduled for July 5 and 12, and those at Silverstone on July 19 and 26. In principle, that will not work with two weeks of quarantine in between. Unless there is a dispensation and / or the soup is not eaten as hot as it is served. We are eagerly awaiting it.
