Electric Mercedes-Benz EQS caught!

Mercedes-Benz is working like crazy on the EQS, a fully electric flagship that will be given a place next to the S-class in the showrooms of the brand. This time the new electric top limo can be seen in action at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

The car country’s top class is electrifying. BMW is coming with the i7, a top-class electric sedan in the format 7 series, and Mercedes-Benz will plug the plug in the EQS in that segment next year. The EQS is an electric top model of which the brand already showed an interesting precursor in 2019. After all, that was the year in which the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQS shone on the show floor of the IAA. Mercedes-Benz is broadly stuck to the slippery design of that show car, although the final production version will soon be stripped of some of its typical conceptual glimmers.

The EQS will have the MEA2 platform as its backbone, a modular basis that will include electric models from Mercedes-Benz. Although the EQS, like the S-Class, claims a place at the top of the Mercedes-Benz food chain, the brand’s electric showpiece does not share its platform with the new S-Class. After all, this uses the MRA platform. The EQS will also be fitted with its own carriage. The S-Class is a traditional sedan, while the EQS looks more like a four-door coupé-style body, possibly even with a fifth door. The EQS must be able to achieve an electrical range of about 700 kilometers, a value comparable to the range that the Vision EQS should be able to achieve on paper.
