Elon Musk, the fourth richest man on Earth

2020 is a disaster year for some, if not for Elon Musk. Not only is he the richest man in the auto industry, but one of the richest people on the planet in the first place.

Elon Reeve Musk experienced at a young age what it was like to be rich. He already bought a McLaren F1 at the age of twenty-eight. Elon seemed to have peaked early on, but that was just the beginning. Since Tesla’s unstoppable advance, its assets have grown exponentially. Especially now that stock market prices are soaring.

Elon Musk’s net worth has grown so fast that he is now the fourth richest man on Earth. He took fourth position in the Bloomberg Billionares Index and thus gave Bernard Arnault a check. If that name doesn’t mean anything to you, that’s the CEO of LVMH, Louis Vuitton’s parent company.

Elon Musk’s net worth is currently a whopping $ 90.3 billion. This amounts to a whopping 75 billion euros. Musk has to put up with just four more people: Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos.

Elon Musk’s net worth has seen a bizarre rise. At the beginning of this year, his assets were ‘only’ 27.6 billion dollars. In eight months, his already not silly capacity has thus tripled.

The Tesla boss mainly owes this to the gigantic price increases that the brand experienced. On Monday, the price rose by 11%. So this was enough to push Elon Musk towards fourth position in Bloomberg’s index, which is updated daily.

    On paper, yes.
If he would like to cash it in (sell it), it will all fall to his hole.
The Tesla bubble is almost bigger than the bitcoin bubble (although there is still something behind Tesla).
And everyone who has made money with it: congratulations: set yourself a goal now, sell on your goal and be there with it. I can’t imagine that in 5 years from now, Tesla will be worth the same.

@gregorius: Tesla is certainly not worth the same in 5 years. At least double, although five times over the head will not surprise me.

Car sales aren’t going to account for that growth, but Tesla is so much more. Even Wallstreet is starting to recognize that and specifically ARC Invest.

@flutterby: Have you invested in Tesla yourself? Serious question by the way, don’t misunderstand!

        • flutterby says

@ariejan: I would be crazy if I didn’t see the above;)

He also saves the first place. The big difference with the richer ones is that they were only CEO of one company. With SpaceX, letter the sky is not the limit.

    • mashell says

Being a CEO gets you rich, but not the richest person in the world. You get that through shares that become more valuable. But what exactly is Space X’s social contribution? Cheap space travel is not really helpful to the masses. Space X’s value will never get huge.
Space X already makes Musk the most hypocritical man on the planet, wanting to save the world with eco-friendly cars on the one hand and launch rockets into the sky on the other.

      • flutterby says

@mashell: SpaceX does shoot rockets into space, but reusing them improves how every other party does it. The same for electric cars; cars are not sustainable, but it is more sustainable than how we used to do it in the past. The question remains.

The problem that SpaceX wants to solve is that we now only have one planet. In addition, they will use Starlink to make reliable internet affordable worldwide.

        Don’t rule out Hamilton.

@mashell: The emissions from those rockets are completely negligible compared to all the cars Tesla sells, so that’s not a good point. It sounds nice but doesn’t make sense. Besides, what’s so bad about being a hypocrite? I separate my waste and also drive a Porsche. Captivates!

All very nice, but giving a newborn baby a normal name.

@ ktm690sm: nothing is necessary, but a little ethical awareness sometimes helps. Don’t hurt your child. What was wrong with John?

        • mashell says

Exactly, if you are already unlucky as a child that your last name is some kind of deodorant then you deserve a decent first name. But maybe Elon will have thought, despite the first name Elon and the last name Musk I have become successful, with a crazy name my child is stimulated to become even more successful.

@ 720s: you also have something like a call sign… I know plenty of people who have a different call sign than what is stated in their passport.

I can’t believe what this man achieves, almost unimaginable. Hats off to Elon.
