FCA may close European factory due to coronavirus

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) may have to close a factory in Europe in the next two to four weeks, because the delivery of Chinese parts is coming. FCA CEO Mike Manley reported this on Thursday to Reuters news agency.

The possible lack of components is due to the outbreak of the new corona virus in China. Many of the car parts that FCA uses are normally made in Chinese factories. The factories stopped because of the virus outbreak.

Due to the virus outbreak, the Chinese New Year holiday, a time when factories close throughout the country so workers can go to their families, has been extended by more than a week and a half.

If the factories remain closed for longer, production in a European factory is in danger, says Manley. Which of the 23 European factories is involved is not clear.
