Each Bet: This electric study by the Romanian Renault brand Dacia would have rocked the canceled Geneva Motor Show 2020. The concept car named Spring Electric is a concrete announcement and not a dreamy outlook. The first electric car from Dacia will arrive in 2021. Basically it has long been there. The city SUV has been on the Chinese market with this body, slightly different drive system and Renault logo since 2019.
According to European understanding, the Dacia emblem fits this model better than the Renault rhombus. There are range records elsewhere, this is about the down-to-earth entry into electromobility. A solid 200 purely electric kilometers in what is potentially the cheapest electric car on the market.
Price: Dacia brings the cheapest “real” car with a plug
However, this classification requires a restriction. Sure, the prices of emission-free minimal concepts such as Citroën Ami or Renault Twizy will not undercut the electric Dacia. But there will be little competition at the same price among the electric vehicles with passenger car registration. It is currently difficult to stream below 20,000 euros. At least with two rows of seats, including a battery and before deduction of the electric subsidy. In any case, the direct competition from the electric mini-SUVs will not manage that. Kia e-Niro, Hyundai Kona Electric or Peugeot e-2008 are larger than this Dacia, but start clearly beyond 30,000 euros.
Dacia has not yet announced a price for its electric mini SUV. However, it is likely that the number begins with a one. A competitive price of 15,000 euros is speculated. Renault’s version of the model for China is even cheaper, it costs the equivalent of less than 10,000 euros there. In China, the model goes under the name City K-ZE (pronounced “City Kayzee”).

The base group of the models is basically the same. Dacia and Renault are based on an adapted version of the CMF-A platform. The substructure for the small car segment is adapted in the front area of the electric mini SUV. Renault uses a different concept for its most well-known group electric car, Zoe.

With the strand of the Renault City K-ZE, the Dacia could also achieve this range by a hair’s breadth. But the manageable output of 44.8 PS (33 kW) and the meager 105 km / h top speed will not expect Dacia from performance-spoiled European customers. It is also likely that the models will not be made on the same belts. Not only because of the current tense health situation around the production site in Wuhan. Dimensions: A mini SUV for the city

The similarity in shape and plastic planking suggests that the dimensions of the electric Renault would come out pretty exactly. So a length of 3.74 meters and a comparatively long wheelbase of around 2.4 meters.
