Mavic Air 2

We were allowed to fly for a week with the DJI MAVIC AIR 2. The successor to DJI’s compact and powerful drone. In this article we tell you our first impression.

Two years ago we discussed the DJI Mavic Air. This is a compact light drone that allows you to shoot and film. There is now a successor in the form of the DJI Mavic Air 2.

The DJI Mavic Air 2 can film in a 4K and 1080p resolution (with HDR) and supports various video formats such as MPEG4 and H.265. Photos shoot the drone in 48 MP. The Air 2 has a 3500 mAh lithium polymer battery and is remotely controllable up to 10000m. With the battery, the drone could fly for 34 minutes. the included charger is 38 watts. To save video images and photos, this device uses a TransFlash MicroSD card.

DJI created the Mavic Air to provide a more compact drone experience. The drone weighs 570 grams and has the following dimensions:

Folded: 180 × 97 × 84mm (Length × Width × Height)

Unfolded: 183 × 253 × 77 mm (Length × Width × Height)

Air 2 Controller

You must operate the drone with this controller. You can attach a smartphone to the controller and control the Air 2 via an app. The controller lasts 240 minutes and should ergonomically be even better than previous DJI controllers.

A notable improvement is that this version of the Air can follow objects such as people, cars and boats even better.

Are you curious about what the improvements are compared to the original Mavic Air 2? Then watch Kevin’s first impression in the video below.
