Material You is Google’s new look and feel for Android applications. All apps have rounder shapes in the interface and the colors match the background on your home screen. Except with Google Photos, where we now see fewer colors in the Material You appearance.
Google Photos Material You
Now it’s Photos’ turn to get immersed in the Material You theme for Android 12. Since the last beta came out this month, a lot of apps have suddenly been redesigned: from Gmail and Google Meet, to Docs, Sheets and Slides. . In version 5.59 of Google Photos, the app is getting Material You, and the update is now slowly rolling out to more users in the Play Store, know that 9To5Google.
What immediately catches the eye when we look at the screenshots is that the theme looks different from most other apps from Google. The round shapes, such as when you tap buttons in the bottom navigation bar, are there, but the Dynamic Color color theme isn’t here yet. This means that the app does not take over the colors of the wallpaper you have set.

It’s not entirely clear whether Material You is just unfinished for Photos, or whether Google has no plans to give the app other shades. The latter case is certainly not inconceivable in our view. The main function of the app is to show your photos, which is usually a whole collection of different colors mixed together. A sober theme for the interface might give your eyes a little more rest.
