Scan QR code

It is a handy way to quickly link to a website, to provide information or as an extra security measure: you see the QR code more and more often, but for many people it is still a mystery how exactly to scan it. There are several ways to scan a QR code and we explain a few of them. This way you can scan a QR code.

QR stands for Quick Response and is basically the same as a barcode. Only this code consists of more square blocks instead of dashes and numbers. The codes can be used for anything and everything: to give you extra information about one specific thing, to give you access to the WiFi or to let you download something, for example.

Via the camera on your phone

On many smartphones these days, a QR code scanner is automatically built into the camera function of your phone. To test if this is the case for you, simply open your camera app and point the lens at a QR code. If there is a scanner in it, it will automatically detect the code and ask if you want to go to the linked web page.

In some cases, you actually have to press the button, as if you were taking a photo, to actually scan the code. In that case, the camera app on your phone will automatically prompt for the correct action.
