Hypercar Mercedes-AMG One caught

Mercedes-AMG has been working for some years on a hypercar that has already been promising on paper, an extremist peppered with F1 technology who can be seen up close on this set of spy plates.

Mercedes-AMG is working on a plug-in hybrid hypercar that will give the very limited edition street-legal version of the CLK-GTR a distant descendant. At the end of 2017, Mercedes-AMG showed the Project One at the IAA in Frankfurt, a production-ready preview of the hypercar that is still not on the market more than 3 years later.

The company from Affalterbach (D) apparently has a tough job developing the One. The car has reportedly been delayed for some time due to difficulties in fitting the drivetrain and cooling it efficiently. The Mercedes-AMG One does not just get a petrol engine to which an electric motor is linked. No, the German tech bomb gets a 1.6-liter V6 whose rev limiter only cuts in at 11,000 rpm. The 1.6 derived from the famous Formula 1 power source is linked to no less than four electric motors that should bring the power to more than 1,000 hp.

The wrapped One in these photos looks broadly identical to the conceptual version that debuted at the end of 2017. The rear lights that we see here are of course not the final ones. If you still have a well-stocked piggy bank and are enthusiastic about the promised specifications of the One, we will unfortunately have to disappoint.
