Hyundai i10 Facelift 2023

The Hyundai i10 has been running for three and a half years, so Hyundai’s smallest European model is ready for a facelift. You don’t have to count on heavy external adjustments, but there are certainly differences with the original!

The segment in which the Hyundai i10 operates is thinning every year. Toyota came up with the Aygo X, but Peugeot and Citroën saw no point in successors to the 108 and C1. It was also recently announced that the Volkswagen Up will soon retire and the Mitsubishi Space Star also does not seem to have a long life. For the time being, Kia and Hyundai are holding on to the smallest segment of the car market with successively the Picanto and i10, but it remains to be seen what the future of that small two will look like. The current generation of the Hyundai i10 was presented at the IAA in 2019 and is now getting a facelift.

The Hyundai i10 is not treated harshly in terms of appearance, so the i10 is immediately recognizable as such. The LED daytime running lights of the Hyundai i10 without N trim were previously housed in a round housing in the grille. After the facelift, the round housing was consigned to the trash and the seven small LED modules were replaced by four larger ones. Hyundai gives the i10 a grille with a different pattern and also fills in the cooling opening at the bottom of the front bumper differently. The vertical slats have disappeared and for now we only see horizontal ones. The optical changes at the rear seem to be limited to the arrival of rear lights with a modified light signature. As before, the Hyundai i10 is also available as a sportier N-Line. It retains its own LED daytime running lights consisting of vertical stripes and gets new 16-inch alloy wheels.

There are also changes in the interior. For example, there is new blue mood lighting in the front and Hyundai offers a new Purple Package that, among other things, brings seats with purple stripes and purple details around the air vents to the i10s. The i10 N Line is also sportier on the inside than the versions without N trim. A 4.2 inch LCD display is standard in all i10s and Hyundai is also bringing USB-C ports to the interior of the i10. An infotainment screen with an 8-inch display, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity and, among other things, an inductive charger are also present. The list of standard safety systems includes an expanded variant of Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Following Assist and Rear Accupant Alert. Electrically folding side mirrors? Detailed information will keep Hyundai under wraps for a while, but we assume that the well-known turboless 1.0 and the 1.0 T-GDI will return. After the Mitsubishi Space Star, the Hyundai i10 is the cheapest new passenger car in the Netherlands. The Hyundai i10 may become slightly more expensive after its facelift, which may increase the price-technical distance between the i10 and the Space Star.

Fun fact: Hyundai recently performed a facelift in India on the Grand i10 and on its sedan brother: the Aura. The Grand i10 looks slightly different from ‘our’ Hyundai i10 and is also slightly larger.
