iOS 16: Updates to Apple Apps (And This Will Change, Too)

It will be a while before iOS 16 is presented at WWDC. According to the latest rumors, iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 are not going to get an all-new design, but updates are coming for some Apple apps. iPhoned tells you what will change.

iOS 16 updates

Bloomberg’s usually well-informed Apple insider, Mark Gurman, talks about the upcoming iOS 16 release in his recent newsletter. Among other things, he says that Apple has no plans to give iOS or iPadOS a completely new design. He does say that the Apple apps will be updated and that there will be new ways to use iOS 16.

Interactive widgets

Furthermore, there have been rumors for some time that Apple will bring interactive widgets to iOS. The widgets have been available on the iPhone since iOS 14. In iOS 15, there were no major changes to the widgets. Hopefully the interactive widgets will now come in iOS 16.

Widgets currently only show the information. If Apple will provide the widgets in iOS 16 with a number of innovations, you would soon be able to perform an action from a widget. For example, use the Music widget to play, pause, or skip to the next song.

According to LeaksApplePro, there will also be a Clock widget, which you can use to quickly start or pause a timer. An interactive Messages widget is also in the works, but it is not yet clear what it will do.

WatchOS 9 will be a ‘major update’

Subsequently, Gurman also briefly discusses the release of WatchOS 9. He says that this will be a ‘major update’. According to Gurman, Apple will introduce a power-saving mode, among other things. This will ensure that you can use some apps and functions, without taking too much of your battery.
