Jeep Wrangler Magneto Concept is electric Wrangler

Jeep has already pulled the digital curtain on the Wrangler Magneto Concept, a preview of an electric Wrangler making its debut at the Jeep Easter Safari along with a range of other special models from the brand.

Jeep has briefly alluded to the arrival of a fully electric Wrangler and it is the Wrangler Magneto Concept that serves as a concrete preview of that car. The car is based on the three-door Wrangler in Rubicon gear, but has to do without the 3.6 V6 petrol engine. At the place where the six-cylinder normally serves, is a 289 hp and 370 Nm strong electric motor that draws its energy from a 70 kWh battery.

It is striking that Jeep provides the Wrangler Magneto Concept with one electric motor. This means that the Americans deliberately choose not to install an electric motor in every wheel. The car is four-wheel drive, but simply thanks to the regular drive shaft and differentials. Equally striking: the Wrangler Magneto Concept simply has a manual six-speed gearbox. The battery pack consists of four parts, two of which are located on either side of the drive shaft. A third part is under the hood, a fourth in the luggage compartment. Jeep does not say how far the Wrangler Magneto Concept can get on one battery charge, but does indicate that the electric Wrangler can reach a speed of 60 mph (97 km / h) in 6.8 seconds. To emphasize the EV content, the car has blue accents all around.

There is more digital splendor from Jeep to admire. For example, the brand lifts a so-called restomod based on a 1968 Jeepster on stage. Despite its classic carriage, the golden yellow Jeepster Beach Concept simply has a modern power plant. Under the hood is an up to 345 hp tickled version of the blown 2.0 four-cylinder that Jeep delivers in the Wrangler. In the interior we also see a modern Wrangler dashboard with classic influences.

Jeep also has the Wrangler Orange Peelz ready, a Wrangler loaded with Mopar parts. Pick-up brother Gladiator will also receive a show version in the form of the Gladiator Red Bare. With these two, the nod to the past is also noticeable. Especially the checkered upholstery in the interior looks nice and retro.
