Mazda supplies new parts for MX-5 NA

Good news for first-generation MX-5 enthusiasts: Mazda will re-manufacture and supply roadster parts for the European market, saving owners the search for used parts. The brand has previously done this for the Japanese and American markets.

Mazda has listened to enthusiasts before introducing the parts on the European market. A total of 117 and 156 parts are available for left- and right-hand drive copies of the MX-5 NA, respectively. Where this difference comes from is not clear. An essential part that Mazda remanufactured is the soft top, which uses exactly the same materials as the original. In addition, new, lighter Enkei wheels are available and Mazda supplies both mechanical and cosmetic parts. In Japan, Mazda set up an official restoration program for the MX-5 some time ago, but the brand does not seem to go that far in Europe. However, the original parts can be obtained through the dealer network, at least in England. Techzle has asked Mazda Netherlands whether this will also be the case in our country.

In fact, the MX-5 NA has already achieved cult status. The first generation of the affordable roadster – with the pop-up headlights – has been around for over 30 years now, which is why the term ‘classic’ is slowly coming into the picture. It can still be seen quite often on the street, but good copies are increasing in value. Mazda believes it is important that owners can continue to enjoy their cars, which is evident from the efforts made by the brand. Overall, it’s not overly expensive to keep an MX-5 NA on the road, as long as you don’t deal with the infamous rust demon.
