OnePlus 8T revealed: Specs and price announced

The OnePlus 8T will be on sale from October 20, OnePlus announced. Pre-orders start today. The device is somewhat in the middle between the OnePlus 8 and the more expensive OnePlus 8T and also introduces its own unique feature, namely even faster charging.

The OnePlus 8T debuts a charging technique called Warp Charge 65, with a power of 65 W. More than double the 30 W chargers of the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. The manufacturer promises that this smartphone is fully charged in 39 minutes. You can go a whole day ahead in fifteen minutes of charging.

The battery capacity is 4,500 mAh, slightly higher than the OnePlus 8 and slightly lower than the 8 Pro. New charging technology also includes a new charger. This time it has a USB-C input. Previous OnePlus chargers still worked via a USB-A-to-USB-C plug.

Screen and processor

The screen of the 8T is the same size as that of the OnePlus 8, namely 6.55 inches. The big difference is in the refresh rate. This has been increased from 90 Hz to 120 Hz and thus corresponds to the refresh rate of the 8 Pro. The screen size of the 8 Pro is slightly larger and the resolution is higher. The 8T sticks to a full hd plus resolution (1080 x 2400 pixels).

The smartphone is powered by the fast Snapdragon 865 processor. Earlier there were rumors that OnePlus would opt for the more recent 865 Plus CPU, but that does not appear to be the case. Linked to the processor is a 5G chip for faster mobile internet.

Camera setup

Also in the camera area we see a kind of compromise between the 8 and the 8 Pro. At the rear we find four cameras, including a 48 megapixel main camera (with optical image stabilization) and a 16 megapixel ultrawide lens with a wide angle of 123 degrees.

In comparison, the 8 Pro has an ultrawide lens that, like the main camera, offers 48 mp. A macro lens and monochrome lens are also part of the line-up on the 8T.

Other specifications

The OnePlus 8T runs out of the box on OxygenOS 11, which is a modified version of the new Android 11. There is a choice of two variants. The cheapest has 8 GB ram + 128 GB storage, costs are 599 euros. You can buy the version with 12 GB ram and 256 GB storage for 699 euros.

The color choice is green and silver, unless you go for the more expensive of the two. It is only available in silver. You can pre-order from 5:00 PM today.
