Jeep announces what the plug-in hybrid version of the Wrangler will cost. The price drops below € 100,000 for the first time due to the partly electric drive.
Jeep will not miss the transition to partly electric drive. It now also brings a plug-in hybrid version of the Wrangler under the heading ‘4xe’, following the Compass and Renegade. The Wrangler 4xe has a blown 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that works in tandem with two electric motors. Together they are good for 380 hp and 637 Nm of torque. As you would expect from a Wrangler, this plug-in is also four-wheel drive. Shifting is done with the help of an eight-speed automatic transmission. Those who want to be on the road purely electrically, must be able to maintain that for 50 km, according to Jeep. Jeep supplies a wallbox as standard with which you can recharge with 2.3 kW charging capacity. Those who want to use more can have the wallbox adjusted by a specialist, so that the power comes to a maximum of 7.4 kW. In that case, according to Jeep, you have charged the battery for 80 percent in two hours.
Initially, the Wrangler 4xe will come as a limited First Edition. Jeep is now releasing the price of this: € 80,990. With that price, the Wrangler suddenly plunges a good € 20,000 below its previous starting price, of course thanks to significantly lower emissions and therefore lower bpm. As a First Edition, you get the Wrangler as standard with things like 18-inch wheels, full-LED headlights, heated seats, the 8.4-inch infotainment screen and a hard cover for the spare wheel. Safety systems such as Forward Collision Warning Plus, Blind Spot Monitoring and High Beam Assist are also on offer, as well as a reversing camera and front and rear parking sensors. The Wrangler 4xe is already available to order and is expected at dealers in the middle of this year.
