Porsche brings modern infotainment to older models

Porsche introduces the Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) with a revised version of an already available modern audio system for older models.

The PCCM is mounted in place of the car radios originally delivered in older Porsches and has been specially developed to not stand out in the older interiors. That is quite a relief compared to many aftermarket systems, which with their blue lights and bright screens are often a true optical torture for the purist.

PCCM comes in two sizes: 1-DIN and double-DIN. The 1-DIN format is that of the well-known classic car radio and can be found in many air-cooled 911s and other models from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s, while the double-DIN system especially for the 911 from the 996 generation and the first Boxster has been developed. Both systems offer a touchscreen, although the smaller version only measures 3.5 inches. Fortunately, there are also physical buttons. Navigation is provided, as is DAB + audio, Bluetooth and Apple Carplay.

The larger double-DIN variant adds Android Auto to it and also gets a much larger touchscreen with 7-inch. According to Porsche, the buttons and switches resemble the existing controls in the older Porsche interior in terms of appearance and operating feel. Of course it is not cheap: for the 1-DIN PCCM system Porsche asks € 1,439.89, while the larger PCCM Plus is available for € 1,606.51.
