Public welcome to the Grand Prix of the Eifel

20,000 spectators are admitted to the Grand Prix of the Eifel at the German Nürburgring in October. Ticket sales for the Formula 1 race start on Tuesday.

The race at the Nürburgring GP circuit – Sunday, October 11 – is not the first since the corona crisis to which spectators are welcome. The Italian Grand Prix at Monza admitted 250 health workers and the most recent F1 race, the GP of Tuscany at Mugello, attracted 3,000 fans. This weekend 30,000 spectators are welcome at the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi.

The Nürburgring is about an hour and 45 minutes drive from the border with South Limburg, so the organization takes into account many Dutch spectators. The tickets cost € 199 and are valid all weekend.

Mouth masks compulsory

Strict corona guidelines are in force around the race in the Eifel. Mouth masks are mandatory and everyone has a personal seat in the stands. Each spectator must park the car near the grandstand for which he or she has a ticket, so that people in different grandstands cannot come close to each other.

A Grand Prix has been held at the Nürburgring 40 times before. Not always on the GP circuit, because up to 1976 Formula 1 was still a guest on the old, more than 20 kilometers long Nordschleife. After 2013, the GP circuit disappeared from the calendar, but in this racing season adapted by corona, the track returns for the time being.
