Renault will eventually come up with an electric SUV that will compete with cars such as the Volkswagen ID4 and Nissan Ariya. He gets the well-known Scénic name printed on him, learns Auto Express from Renault.

While Renault is preparing for the unveiling of Kadjar successor Austral, behind the scenes work is also being done on a fully electric brother in the middle segment. A hitherto unnamed SUV that we already extensively previewed last fall. We already know that that car sits on the CMF-EV base that also includes the Ariya from alliance partner Nissan. A platform developed purely for EVs with which Renault and Nissan hope to grab a significant market share in the electric car market. Auto Express now understands from Renault that the Ariya cousin will be called Scénic. A well-known name, for a completely different car than the previous Scénics.

As mentioned, the new Scénic will be an SUV instead of an MPV and will only be on the market as a five-seater. In the form of the Morphoz Concept from 2020, we already received a strong harbinger of the appearance of the new Scénic and Auto Express states that the above teaser photo of a concept car that we were presented with last week is probably a new harbinger of the Scénic. Although Renault wants to draw attention to new technology with this as-yet-unnamed concept next spring, including a real hydrogen engine, its appearance also seems relevant for the short term. In May we get to see that concept car. The unveiling of the new Scénic will probably have to wait until next year.
