Round-up: this is how the iPhone 13 and 13 mini score with international media

The first reviews of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini have appeared online. In this round-up we list the reviews of international tech websites for you.

iPhone 13 (mini) review round-up

This Friday many Dutch people can get started with the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, but a number of leading American websites have already published their reviews of the new Apple phones.

The tech websites are very satisfied with the new iPhone 13 and the smaller iPhone 13 mini. The websites still find the notch (the notch at the top of the screen) an eyesore, but they appreciate that it has become smaller. They are happy with the design and color, although they regret that the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini only have a 60Hz screen.

CNET

The website CNET is very pleased with the cameras and the larger battery. In addition, they also find the larger storage and the bright screen a great improvement. CNET goes on to say that the iPhone 13 is a neat upgrade from the (already fine) iPhone 12. Some users may be disappointed that there haven’t been any major changes, but Engadget says that’s the charm of the device.

Owners of an iPhone 11 who want to upgrade are advised to upgrade to the iPhone 13. The iPhone 12 (with the same amount of storage) is only a fraction cheaper than the new flagship. However, CNET’s writers aren’t happy with the notch just yet. But they appreciate that it has become smaller.

The Verge

The editors of The Verge are very pleased with the iPhone 13 (mini). They think the cameras are fine, but they do criticize the selfie camera. They had hoped that the sensor of the front camera had been adjusted. The software improvements and the smaller notch are good upgrades, but The Verge believes that Apple has been ignoring the selfie camera for far too long.

iPhone 13 mini

The improved battery and greater storage space for each device will find The Verge excellent. They think it’s a bad thing that your iPhone 12 cases don’t fit the iPhone 13. Incidentally, the pink iPhone is the most popular.

Engadget

Engadget is very satisfied with the cameras of the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 13 mini. They also find both devices to respond quickly. The build quality and the available colors are also an excellent plus. They like that the notch has become smaller, but do indicate that Android has only had a small hole punch for the camera for some time.

What they are less satisfied with is the 60Hz screen. The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max both have a screen that can handle 120Hz. As long as you’ve never seen a screen like that, you don’t mind. But once you get used to it, it’s quite a loss.

This year’s iPhones haven’t made any major changes. But there are plenty of innovations that might make you want to upgrade. Especially if you still have an iPhone 11, the upgrade is definitely worth considering.
