Rumor: Processor in Google Pixel is from 2018 Galaxy Watch

Google Pixel Watch runs on a processor that Samsung Galaxy Watch from 2018 also used, according to a source from 9to5Google. It concerns the Exynos 9110 processor and that is an outdated chip. The reason for this is that the Pixel Watch project started a long time ago.

Exynos 9110

The Samsung processor was not last used in the smart watch from 2018. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 from 2020 also contains this chip. Not the Watch 4: it has an Exynos W920 on the inside. Whether it is really true whether the Pixel Watch uses such an outdated chip remains to be seen. This news is based on a source that 9to5Google not further specified.

Google would be reluctant to opt for a completely different chip in the middle of the development of its new gadget, which is in a sense the heart of a gadget. It’s not necessarily bad news. Google also often uses processors in its Pixel phones that are not the latest, while the devices continue to function well.

Google Pixel Watch

We don’t know much about Pixel Watch yet, because Google clearly wants to wait until the device comes out in the fall. That is at the same time as the Pixel 7 smartphone. It is rumored that the battery is 300mAh and that there is e-SIM support. However, it is all still shrouded in mystery and that makes sense: it is the first time that Google comes with a smart watch.

For example, what we would like to find out is where this smartwatch appears. In the Netherlands we often fish behind when it comes to Pixel phones, so let’s hope we don’t get skipped for the Pixel Watch. First, though, there’s another Pixel phone (6a) and the Pixel Buds coming out, so we’ll probably be a summer away before we learn more about this watch.
