Now that everyone is confined to their home because of the coronavirus, things can get really hot. Your children may run continuously screaming through the house or you may find it difficult to find the balance between private and work now that you work from home. Whatever the reason, make sure you also take your rest during this time of crisis. And how can that be better than via a meditation app? We list the best meditation apps for you.

1. Headspace

Headspace is one of the most popular meditation apps, and for good reason. The app has been around for years and in that period the number of exercises has increased considerably. There are now a lot of relaxation exercises available, which also specifically focus on, for example, fighting fear of flying or insomnia. Due to the many different types of exercises, Headspace is a good app to get acquainted with meditation for the first time. We are also pleased with the SOS meditations in acute stress. If you get panicky or stressed, you can regain yourself through these short meditation sessions.

Headspace is available for iOS, Android and PC and a monthly subscription (with access to all meditation sessions) costs just under ten euros.

2. Calm

As soon as you open the app, you are instructed to take a deep breath. With that we immediately have the core of it Calm to grab. In the app you will find various breathing exercises, so you can get your breathing back in order and calm down. In times of stress, many people become short of breath and Calm tries to prevent this by letting you breathe in and out in a controlled manner in the rhythm indicated by the app. Before starting a session, answer some questions about your goal of meditation. Do you want to feel less stress, be happier or more confident? Based on that, Calm determines which session you need. Don’t feel like meditating, but want to relax? In the app you can also choose from many soothing sounds to listen to, without having to do certain exercises.

If you want access to the more advanced exercises, you have to subscribe, which costs $ 12.99 (approx. 12 euros) per month.

3. Buddhify

Meditation requires discipline and routine to take full advantage of it. Nevertheless, a mediation session quickly fails and before you know it you have not meditated for days or even weeks. Fortunately, there is an app like Buddhify. Sometimes during a stressful period, you need nothing more than a little rest. What kind of meditation sessions do you need?

You do not have to answer that question with this app. Buddhify it takes a different approach and shows you a colored wheel, on which you touch the bar that describes what is most applicable to you at the moment. For example, “Feeling stressed”, “Can’t sleep” or “Work break”. Then the app proposes a number of meditations. The nice thing about this app is that you can buy all meditations at once for 4.99 euros.

If you are first into meditation, it is best to work with Headspace. This app is very accessible and offers a solution in many scenarios, where Calm (as the name suggests) goes for a general calm feeling through quiet ambient sounds or music. You can easily use Buddhify between all busy moments and it is also the cheapest option.
