Transfer music from Spotify to another service

Spotify

Spotify may be the biggest, but that doesn’t mean it’s the best music streaming service right now. Do you use the service, but would you rather use a different one? Then in this article we explain how to take your playlists with you.

Unfortunately, moving playlists from one music streaming service to another isn’t an ingrained feature. Therefore, in this article, we are using the third-party website called Tune My Music. With this service you can transfer your music from one service to another within minutes. We only take Spotify as an example, because it is the largest music streaming service at the moment. Tune My Music works with most of the major providers of the moment. You can see which these are in the overview during the transfer.

From Spotify to…

Before we can start, you need an account with the service you want to use from now on. You log in to Spotify (or another source) and you log in to the new party. Now go to the website of the third-party service and press the big button on the screen where it says Let’s get started. This is the first of the four steps, where you will see an overview of the resources that are supported. For convenience, we’ve made a screenshot of it so you know what to expect.

On that page, select the source you want to use. In our case we choose Spotify. Click on the service of your choice and log in (if you haven’t already done so) within the new window. Keep in mind that Tune My Music can request all kinds of data from you when you give your necessary permissions in that window, but luckily you can also withdraw those rights after transferring. After this you can proceed in two ways:

  • You can load the playlists you want to transfer directly from your profile
  • You can request a URL from the music streaming service and post it in the text field

If you choose the first option, Tune My Music will fetch all your lists. Then you select which lists you want to take with you. When you press the button with which you can display the list (it’s on the right of the screen), you can even select or remove individual numbers at the bottom, if necessary. Keep in mind that you can only transfer a thousand songs at a time, so hopefully the playlist you have in mind isn’t too big.

Transfer to another service

When you have made all the choices, you can confirm them at the bottom by pressing the big purple button. On the next screen, select the service to which the music will be transferred. After selecting the service, log in (if you haven’t already done so) and indicate that Tune My Music can start transferring. Now you have to wait for the website to be ready.

If a song is missing (the music library differs per service, all the more reason to try out other services), it will be shown in red letters. Sometimes it is possible that those songs can be heard on another service, but just under a different name. Then you have to add them manually afterwards, if you really miss them.
