Apple has made the Release Candidate version of watchOS 8.6 available to developers. That means the update is almost coming to the general public.
WatchOS 8.6 RC mainly offers security patches
A new beta version of watchOS 8.6 is available to developers. This is the Release Candidate version. This is the very last beta of the software, which is equal to the update that the general public will receive soon. It shouldn’t be long before Apple starts the global rollout of watchOS 8.6.
The software update mainly contains security patches. These are very important to keep hackers out. In Mexico, the update brings some bigger features. Here, the Apple Watch Series 4 and newer finally get support for the EKG app and heart arrhythmia notifications. These features were previously not available in the country.
Although the watchOS 8.6 update is not particularly interesting, Apple will soon come with a much larger update in the form of watchOS 9. The manufacturer will announce this new software version during WWDC on June 9. We will of course report extensively on this that day, so keep an eye on the website!

Become a beta tester too
Want to try out new iOS, macOS, and watchOS betas before the general public gets the updates? Then sign up to become a beta tester. Please note: the first betas in particular are usually plagued by annoying bugs. We therefore recommend that you only install the software on an Apple device that you do not use on a daily basis.
