DS Techeetah is all set for the 2021 season.
While Mercedes is lord and master in Formula 1, the Germans did not manage to immediately take the title in their debut season in Formula E. DS Techeetah is lord and master there. This season they took the constructors’ title for the second time in a row and the driver’s title for the third time in a row. So they are gradually becoming the Mercedes of Formula E.
FE20
DS Techeetah can therefore look forward to the 2021 season with confidence. Initially, they will use the same car next year as that of the current season, the DS E-tense FE20. That was officially confirmed this afternoon. Due to corona, this option is allowed. The FE20 will not be completely identical to last season’s car as the car will get new software. The car also has a new livery, which you can see in the pictures here. It is still black and gold, so the car will still be recognizable.
Rome
DS Techeetah is also developing a car with a completely new powertrain for 2021, the DS E-tense FE21. This will make its debut mid-season during the Rome E-prix. This race is the fifth of the season and will be held on April 10th. The season will kick off January 16 in Santiago. The fact that Formula E now has the status of FIA World Championship gives it some extra allure.
Driver duo
Under the motto ‘never change a winning team’, DS Techeetah will retain their driver duo, consisting of Antonio Felix da Costa and Jean-Eric Vergne. It will not be their fault. Da Costa is the reigning world champion, while Vergne won the previous two titles. This season he had to put up with Stoffel Vandoorne, who took second place with one point difference. Nevertheless, DS Techeetah will appear in 2021 with two champions and a champion car at the start.
