During WWDC 25, Apple iOS 19 will announce for iPhone and iPados 19 for iPad. The successor to MacOS Sequoia will also be revealed. IOS 19 and iPados 19 in particular may undergo a major change with possibly a completely new design inspired by Visionos.
Bloomberg reports that iOS 19 ‘will be one of the most drastic software visions’ in the history of Apple. This includes design changes, new functions and more. According to the report, iOS 19 ‘will be the biggest renewal since iOS 7’ in 2013.
Apple’s largest iPhone update ever
For years it has been rumored that Apple would like to renew the design of iOS, but such a design change is not easy to implement. After all, users have to get used to a new design and if it is too drastic it works to the disadvantage of Apple.
Yet the company would be ready for the largest iPhone update ever! Mark Gurman van Bloomberg reports That iOS 19 ‘one of the most drastic software visions’ will be in the history of Apple. This includes design changes, new functions and more.
iOS 19 is said to update the style of symbols, menus, apps, windows and system buttons for iPhone users. The new interface will be loosely based on Visionos. In addition, it will also “simplify the way users navigate and operate their devices,” says Bloomberg.

Biggest innovation since iOS 7
According to the report, iOS 19 will be the biggest renewal since iOS 7 ‘in 2013. At the time, iOS 7 introduced a drastic redesign of the iPhone software with new icons, fonts, user interface elements and more.

The current design is now about 12 years old. Of course it has been renewed little by little in recent years, but major changes in the field of design have failed. The symbols, menus, apps, windows and system buttons are basically still the same as iOS 7.
The access screen, home screen and control panel has changed considerably in recent years. In this way it has become more personal and provided with widgets and shortcuts. However, this relates more to functionality, while the design determines more what the elements will look like.
Inspired by Visionos
The new design of iOS, and possibly also iPados, will be inspired by Visionos that can be found on the Apple Vision Pro. This rumor came about after the release of Apple’s invitations app. This has a different design than the other standard apps and is more like Visionos with transparent and rounded elements. Possibly more apps will receive these design adjustments.

The design of Visionos is characterized by transparent elements, subtle shadows, minimalist windows and rounded buttons. This emphasizes the simplicity, which is good for the user experience. Most likely we will also see these elements in iOS/iPados.
Camera app with new design
The camera app for iPhone is one of the most used applications. In recent years, Apple has added various new functions including night mode, photographic styles, camera controls, spatial photos, film mode, etc. These were always stuck, Apple may want to straighten this and the camera app.
Jon Prosser would have seen a video of the renewed camera app in action. To protect his sources, he has created a new concept video showing the new design of the camera app.

The design of the camera application is probably simplified in the style of Visionos with more space for the camera image. At the top, the buttons remain visible to flash, shared photo library and live photos.
At the bottom you can only find the shutter button, changing lenses and a shortcut for recently taken photos. This includes a minimalist button to switch between the different photo and video functions.
