Sign in with Apple account sharing through the Passwords app

On an iPhone, iPad and Mac it is possible to share account information such as account passwords or passkeys with your family members, roommates or others in your contact list.

Since iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia, this functionality has been moved to the new Passwords app. New in the Passwords app is the option to also share ‘Sign in with Apple’ accounts.

The new Passwords app

If you were already using the password functions in previous versions of iOS, iPadOS or macOS, little will change. The app has almost the same functionality and is very similar to the Reminders app in terms of interface. The data is better organized and is divided into: All, Passkeys, Codes, Wifi, Security and Deleted. There’s also a section for family passwords if you use it with iCloud Family Sharing.

Apple has deliberately made the new app simple and accessible. By placing the app on the home screen by default, users who are not yet using a password manager will be encouraged to use it.
