The Apple Vision Pro is Apple’s coolest reveal in years. But what can you actually do with it? These are the most important facts you didn’t know about the Apple Vision Pro.
Apple Vision Pro: The most important facts you didn’t know yet
We secretly already knew it, but during WWDC 2023 Apple showed it anyway: the Apple Vision Pro. These VR glasses from Apple are very similar to (very expensive) ski goggles, but they can do so much more. Unfortunately, there are also a few hooks and eyes. These are the most important facts you need to know about the Apple Vision Pro!
Release and introduction
Apple Vision Pro is due out sometime early next year and carries a hefty price tag of $3,499. Apple has already indicated that the headset is only for sale via the Apple website and Apple Stores in America. Other countries will have to wait a little longer until later in 2024.
Age restriction
On paper, the Apple Vision Pro has an age restriction of 13 years and older. It is not yet known how Apple will apply this. Probably via the Apple ID connected to the glasses. A child under the age of 13 cannot create an Apple ID without the permission of a parent or guardian
Glasses wearers beware!
Do you wear glasses? Then you have to pay attention. With other VR glasses you can keep your own glasses on by using spacers. This is not the case with the Apple Vision Pro.
You then have to buy special lenses (made for your eyes) that click into place magnetically. Apple probably does this to prevent reflections from glasses. The glasses already cost $ 3499 and then there is the price of the special lenses. Furthermore, Apple has already indicated that not all lens corrections are supported.
Apple Vision Pro in AR: This is what you need to see
Do you want to know how big the glasses are in real life? Or do you want to see it up close? The real release will take a while, but you can already view it in AR (Augmented Reality).
You do that by surfing on your iPhone to Apple’s website about the Vision Pro. Scroll all the way down and click the “View Apple Vision Pro in AR” link.
The operating system is called: visionOS
The company’s first mixed reality headset is incredibly advanced and runs on the new visionOS. This new OS version has been specially developed for the headset and has modified versions of apps such as FaceTime and Photos.
Apps are displayed as a kind of huge screen in the room where you are sitting. Also nice: you can choose how big this screen should be. In addition, it is possible to open multiple screens side by side.
