An important one is, for example, the fall detection: a possible lifesaver for when you fall while exercising.
When you have fallen, the watch can detect it. Fortunately, it makes a distinction between a thud in the seat and a solid blow against the earth’s surface. You will see a warning for 60 seconds, and you can swipe it away if you’re okay, or you can send an emergency message to contacts you’ve selected. If you don’t do anything, the Galaxy Watch 5 series will automatically send you an emergency message.
This is how you set it up
Note that you have to manually set the feature up in the Galaxy Wearable app first, and we’ll explain how to do that:
- Open the Galaxy Wearableapp
- Choose Watch settings
- Tap on Safety and Emergencies
- Sets Hard fall detection on with the switch
- Choose Get on
- Select an emergency contact and press Ready
After you have selected an emergency contact, the function is active. But be careful, because by default the fall detection only works during sports activities. You’ll find that out when you tap Hard Fall Detection in the Safety & Emergencies menu, but without hitting the switch. You will then find a new menu, and under ‘When to detect traps’ you can select ‘Always’.
More tips
In the settings you can also choose to make an emergency call in addition to the emergency messages.
