You have to install a program on your Mac to do this. This is coconutBattery 3 and the software is free too download on the website. Don’t have a Mac but a Windows PC? Then you can program iMazing 2 to use.

Start the coconutBattery 3 program and connect the iPad to your Mac using a cable. Sometimes you have to give permission on your Mac and on the iPad, but then the battery status of your iPad appears in coconutBattery 3. Tap the ‘iOS Device’ tab. You will then see all data from your iPad appear in the program.

… and this is when you should replace the iPad battery

If you look at the ‘Design capacity’ of the iPad in the program, you will see how many percent the battery still has. Is this value lower than 80 percent? Then Apple says it’s really time to replace the battery.

According to Apple, you can charge the iPad’s battery about 1,000 times and it will stay above the 80 percent limit. Isn’t that the case? Then it’s time for a warranty. Apple offers a standard one-year warranty.

Apple itself says that the iPad (two years) is eligible for a battery replacement at no extra cost if you have AppleCare+. In addition, your iPad’s battery must be less than 80 percent of its original capacity.
