In this article, we list 10 tips that will help you extend the battery life of your iPhone. Everything to ensure that you reach for the charger a little less quickly.
iPhone battery lasts longer thanks to these 10 tips
It doesn’t matter what exactly you do with your iPhone, a dead battery is just annoying. Especially if it drains quickly without you really using it much. That’s why we recommend that you try the following 10 tips. We cannot guarantee that it will completely solve your problem, but it is always worth a try!
#1 Less notifications, more better
The fewer notifications you get on your iPhone in a day, the better it is for the battery. Of course you have no influence on the amount of messages you receive in a day, but you can limit the number of notifications. Via the settings it is possible to select which apps are allowed to send you notifications and which are not. You can by following these steps:
- Enter Settings nasty Notification
- Select the app you would like to change
- In the new window you put Allow notifications from
It is also possible to opt for just a single notification. So you don’t always have to get a message on the lock screen, in the message center or via strips. You can also choose just one item by unchecking the others.

#2 Put your iPhone on the table differently
Do you always put your iPhone on the table with the screen up? Then it is convenient to turn it around. As soon as you receive a notification, the screen of your smartphone will turn on. Do you place the device with the screen down? Then it detects that and the screen will remain off. For someone who receives a lot of messages in a day, a handy way to save a little battery.
#3 Limit location data
Location data is useful, but drains battery. That’s why it’s smart to disable them for most apps on your iPhone. You do this by following the steps below:
- Enter Settings nasty Privacy
- Select Location Services
- Select the app you want to disable
- Then choose the option Never
Do you have a number of applications where you don’t always want to use the location, but where it is occasionally useful? In this window choose When using app or Ask next time or when I share† As soon as you invoke the functionality, you will see a pop-up in which you can give permission.

#4 Stop closing applications
Closing apps on your iPhone: We all probably do it for the wrong reason. The idea behind it is that open apps use more of your battery than if you closed them. A logical idea that is not true in practice, however.
Once apps are running in the background, your iPhone will pause them. So they only ask for something from the battery when you use them again. If you close them completely, apps have to be restarted, which ultimately demands more from your battery.
#5 Take it easy with the Bluetooth
There are quite a few applications that use Bluetooth for certain purposes. While this can generally be quite useful, there are often apps that you may not use that much. Since iOS 13, this is easy to see and you can stop the Bluetooth connection with a simple push of a button.
- Enter Settings nasty Privacy
- Select the option Bluetooth
- Slide the button to the left for apps that don’t require the connection

#6 Charging without a case
You might not have thought of it, but charging your iPhone without a case can help. This is not the case with every case, but in some cases your smartphone gets very hot while charging. That heat can affect the battery capacity. As soon as you notice that your device is getting hot while charging, you can try removing the cover.
#7 Limit background activity on your iPhone
Yes, applications that are open are paused in the background. Still, there are certain apps, both first-party and third-party, that keep reloading anyway. That’s because of a setting called background activity. It is possible to disable or generally disable the feature for certain apps. All in all, this has a major impact on battery life.
- Enter Settings nasty General
- Select Background Refresh
- Move the slider to the left for the apps where this is not necessary
It is also possible, via the top option, to switch off the entire refresh or to let it work only with Wi-Fi.

#8 A hard reset
The term “have you already tried turning it off and on” doesn’t just come from anywhere. Restarting your iPhone can fix problems. You do this by holding down the power button and the top volume button at the same time. Then slide it Turn off-slide from left to right.
If this doesn’t work, there is another option. You can also give your iPhone a hard reset. You do this by pressing the three keys at the same time and waiting for the Apple logo to appear.
#9 Fewer automatic downloads on your iPhone
After reading this list, you will understand that your iPhone does a lot in the background. However, did you also know that applications are automatically updated by the Apple App Store? This is a functionality that is set by default and ensures that you always have the most recent version. Do you not want this and would you rather save battery? Then do the following:
- Enter Settings nasty App Store
- Look for the heading Automatic downloads
- Move the slider apps and App updates from right to left

#10 Get your own emails
The Mailapp from Apple is very useful, but can consume quite a bit of battery. This is mainly due to the fact that messages are loaded automatically in the background. By changing a small setting on your iPhone, that can easily be a thing of the past.
- Enter Settings nasty Mail
- Select the option Accounts
- Press at the bottom New data
- Toggle the option push from
From this point on, emails will not be loaded until you de Mail-open your iPhone’s app. So you will not see notifications and red dots as soon as new emails arrive.
