Good food, prevent the waste of good food and also receive a discount? It’s possible, with these 4 apps against food waste.
Food Waste Apps
Food waste is more common than you think. When I was a teenager working in the dishwashing area of a steak restaurant, immense amounts of fine food were thrown away every day. Fortunately, as a society we are becoming more and more aware and we see that this is a sin. There are also several apps that try to combat food waste. In this overview we list 4 noteworthy initiatives.
1. Too Good To Go
Buy food that would otherwise be thrown away, while also getting a big discount. Sounds ideal, right? With Too Good To Go you get excess food from restaurants and shops for next to nothing. Food does not end up in the trash, but on your plate.
The offer changes daily. At the end of the working day, restaurants, shops, hotels and bakeries pass on what’s left to the app, after which you can purchase it for a reasonable price. You will then receive the location and pick-up time. Enjoy your meal!
2. Pick up at home
I don’t know about you, but I’m a disaster when it comes to portions of treasure. Because of this, I always prepare too much food. I am not the only one in this, because otherwise Thuisafhaal would not be necessary.
The idea of the app is simple: people can collect portions of food from each other. You can give away meals as well as pick up dishes from others. The app is free to use. However, if you regularly do not have time to cook, you can purchase a subscription from a cook in your area. So easy!
3. NoFoodWasted
Supermarkets throw away immense amounts of good quality food every day. NoFoodWasted wants to change that. The app shows which supermarket products in your area are approaching their best before date, and are therefore on sale.
NoFoodWasted works with hundreds of supermarkets, so there is always a store near you. You can save this as a favorite, after which you receive notifications about good food that can be picked up for next to nothing, but will soon go into the trash.
4. Restoranto
Most food waste apps focus on relatively cheap products, but not Restoranto. This app lets you dine in restaurants, but cheaper. Restoranto uses a unique algorithm for this. Is a restaurant near you having a slow day, and the place is almost empty? Then you get a discount on your meal. When the restaurant is full to the brim, you pay the regular price.
Restoranto uses a special algorithm to determine the prices. Moreover, you no longer have to order when you arrive and ask for the bill is not necessary either. You can also take away meals. The app is currently only available in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, but will soon be rolled out to other cities.
Save more
You probably spend a large part of your salary on groceries. Do you want to save on this? Then it is not unwise to install an advertising folder app on your iPhone. This allows you to keep track of exactly what is on offer, and when. We would also like to refer you to our overview of shopping apps. These keep track of which supermarket offers a product the cheapest.
