4 reasons why you shouldn’t use a flash on your iPhone
Years ago, iPhones were pretty bad at taking photos with little light. Nowadays that is completely different and you can take a pretty neat photo if it is almost dark.
Of course you have a flash on the iPhone. But you shouldn’t use it to take photos. These are the four main reasons why you better ignore the flash on your smartphone.
1. Flashlight takes your photos flat and unnatural
The flash on your iPhone shines a hard and direct light. This gives your photos a flat, boring appearance without depth. It seems like your subject is standing in front of the headlights of a car. Instead, try to play with the present and natural light. And if you really need more light, use a small desk light or table lamp.
2. Get rid of those hard shadows!
A flash often also causes hard, unnatural shadows behind your subject. For example, do you take a picture of someone against a wall with your flash? Then you see dark, hard contours in the background. This distracts from the subject and makes the photo less professional. Rather play with indirect light or photograph near a window. This way you get soft, subtle shadows that make your photo much nicer.
3. Flashlight only works a few meters away
Also keep in mind that the flash on the iPhone can only be seen a few meters away. For topics that are further away, it is of no use anyway to use a flash.
