The iPad Pro is ideal for editing large video files, including 4K videos, although you do need good tools. In this article we list four apps that allow you to edit videos in no time.
1. iMovie
Price: For free
The most obvious tool you can use is iMovie from Apple itself. The app can be downloaded for free and videos can be uploaded in high quality to YouTube, for example. iMovie is an ideal app if you’re not familiar with video editing and don’t have too many demands on how the video should look. Cut, paste, music underneath and you quickly have a nice holiday video, but advanced options such as adjusting colors are not possible.
2. LumaFusion
Price: €29.99
LumaFusion is a very extensive video editing tool, but you also pay for that. The app has a price tag of approximately 30 euros. Unlike iMovie, you can edit multiple video and audio tracks simultaneously, sharpen or distort images, while the Lock and Load option allows you to stabilize images. After all, not everyone has a steady hand or tripod nearby while filming. Plus, you can edit videos directly from an external USB-C drive. This has the advantage that the storage of your iPad Pro is not taxed.
3. Adobe Premiere Rush
Price: Free (+ in-app purchases)
Premiere Rush is a sleek app that works intuitively, as you would expect from an Adobe app. Adobe has managed to strip down its Premiere Pro in such a way that only the most essential features of the leading video editing software are preserved for this iPad version. You have to accept that some functions for precise editing have disappeared. The app is free to use, but if you want access to all functions, you pay approximately 12 euros per month. For this you also get 100GB of cloud storage.
4. Quik
Price: Free (+ in-app purchases)
Also for Quik there is a free and paid variant and the app was developed by GoPro. As the name of the app suggests, the emphasis is on fast uploading and sharing of videos. So expect relatively limited editing options, but this makes Quik the perfect tool if you want to give your videos a little more flair in an instant.
In the app you can make a selection of movies and photos that you want in the video and Quik can automatically merge the images into one movie, including music. Still not completely satisfied? Then you can of course put the film together yourself.
