5 things to try once FaceTime stops working

Face ID is an almost indispensable function on your iPhone. It makes logging in much easier. It is therefore very bummed if it does not work. We give you five good tips with which you can easily solve those problems.

Face ID is an incredibly useful feature on your iPhone. It ensures that you don’t have to enter a password everywhere. All you have to do is hold your phone in front of your face. But what if you do and it doesn’t work?

5 Tips to Troubleshoot FaceTime

Here we give you five tips to solve problems with Face ID. This way you can easily log in again. Here they come.

#1 Check the Face ID settings

It sounds very simple, but first it is useful to view the settings of Face ID. For this you go to Institutions>Face ID and passcode. Check whether all the boxes are checked there.

In the settings you can also immediately see whether this applies to all apps that use the login method. These should also all be checked. To see this, click on the box Other apps.

#2 Clean the notch of your iPhone

Face ID works through the TrueDepth camera on the front of the iPhone. This is hidden in the notch of your device. It is possible that there is dirt on the lens, so that the function no longer recognizes your face.

To properly clean the iPhone, it is best to use a soft dry cloth. Don’t get it wet and don’t put any cleaning agent on it, because this can damage the device and of course you don’t want that.

It is also possible that a screen protector covers the sensors. So consider removing it if Face ID isn’t working properly.

#3 Update iOS

The problem may be in the software. If this is the case, Apple often solves this via the iOS software update. To see if the latest version is on your iPhone, go to Institutions>General>SoftwareUpdate. Is there no software update available? Then it may pay to restart your iPhone.

#4 Reset Face ID

If Face ID isn’t working, you can reset the feature. This will make all saved faces disappear, so you have to set up the function all over again on your iPhone.

Not exactly sure how to do that? We explain it to you. For this you go to Institutions>Face ID and passcode. Scroll down until you see in red: Reset Face ID. Follow the steps and the function is reset.

#5 Reset your iPhone

Well this option is very rigorous, but this is really the last tool. Not only does this completely reset Face ID, this also applies to all other functions. All your saved files such as photos and documents will also disappear. So make a backup first.

Did you make the backup? Then go to Institutions>General>Transfer or reset iPhone. Then press Reset and Restore all settings. This resets your device.

Doesn’t all this work? Then it is probably a hardware problem. It is best to contact Apple or a service provider for this.
