5 ways to extend the battery life of your AirPods Pro 2

The battery life of the AirPods Pro 2 is not bad, but sometimes you just want to last a little longer – with these 5 ways you can achieve that!

Extend AirPods Pro 2 battery life 5x

With the AirPods Pro 2 you can listen to music continuously for about 6 hours before you have to put them back in the charging case. Although that is sufficient in many cases, sometimes you want your AirPods to have a slightly longer battery life. We show you 5 ways to achieve this.

1. Disable noise cancellation and Spatial Audio

You don’t want to disable the best features of the AirPods. But when you don’t really need them, it can certainly extend the battery life of your AirPods. Most people know that active noise cancellation (ANC), EQ, Spatial Audio and other features drain the battery faster. You don’t necessarily have to disable them all, but at least disable the features you don’t use. You can do this very easily via the dashboard or the Control Panel.

2. Take advantage of Mono mode

If you often use your AirPods for calls, you can extend battery life (and therefore listening and talking time) by using each AirPod individually via Mono mode. All you have to do is take out the AirPod you prefer to use and leave the other one in the charging case to charge. You can even enable noise cancellation in this mode if you need to.

3. Make sure Optimized Charging is enabled

Optimized Charging learns from your charging routine and waits to charge past 80 percent until you need to use the AirPods. This helps extend battery life. Although the feature is enabled automatically, it is a good idea to check it at crucial times. You’d be surprised how many automatic features are randomly disabled.

4. Listen at a volume that is not too high

The AirPods have some great options for hearing loss, like Adaptive Audio to make ambient sounds audible and less loud when you’re listening to music. Call Enhancement is a feature that emphasizes voices during conversations. Unfortunately, these features, along with high volume, consume more power. So it’s a good idea to turn the volume down a few notches.

If you are unsure what a good and safe volume level is, you can let Apple choose for you by enabling the ‘Loud Noise Reduction’ function. This allows your iPhone to analyze the sound from your headphones and reduce noise that exceeds the set decibel level.

5. Use Reverse Wireless Charging

Finally, you can extend the battery life of your AirPods with the handy Reverse Wireless Charging feature. By this we mean that you can charge your AirPods with Apple products that have a USB-C connection. Think of iPhones, iPads and Macs. Connect the charging case of your AirPods Pro 2 with a USB-C cable and charging starts immediately. This is of course especially useful when you are somewhere where there is no power socket nearby.
