9292 completely renewed: 5 changes in a row

9292 has been one of the best-known navigation apps in the Netherlands for years, although the design has changed considerably. That will finally change with version 2.0. This is all new.

Major 9292 update now available

Once you install 9292 version 2.0, you will be greeted by a completely redesigned app when you launch it. It was about time, because the service had to do without updates for more than a year. Version 2.0 was gradually rolled out in February and is now available to everyone. In this overview we list all the changes.

1. A simpler and clearer design

The navigation app was most in need of a new design and that is also the first thing that stands out. The app looks tidy, with a simpler home screen. You now enter your destination there, after which the app gives you an overview of the different travel options.

If you have chosen a route, the next screen will show you how long the travel time is, a map with the route and a step-by-step plan in which you see exactly where and when you have to change trains. If you have to walk or cycle somewhere, you can request a route description with the ‘route button’.

2. Extra options in a new place

The new design has also given existing functions a new place. For example, you can no longer select additional travel options in advance, but they will only appear once you have entered a destination.

After your search for the fastest route has started, tap ‘extra options’ to call up a menu in which you can choose, among other things, the means of transport, extra transfer time or an accessible journey. As soon as you select an extra option, the results are immediately adjusted.

3. Personalize the home screen

The new home screen is pretty bare when you open the app. Nice and clear, although you can also manually add some extras. You do this by opening the app and tapping ‘Edit’ in the top right corner on the home screen.

A new window will then appear in which you can add additional widgets by pressing the plus button. For example, you can add a fixed route, useful if you do not want to fill in the same for your commute. You can also add a specific stop or station to quickly plan a route.

4. Share your trip or save it to your calendar

Are you not traveling alone or do you want to save a route description for later? Then you can now share travel advice with the push of a button or add it to your calendar. This works as follows.

  1. Plan a route via the home screen;
  2. Choose a route description from the overview;
  3. Tap the three dots in the top right corner on the next screen;
  4. Choose ‘Share resistance advice’ to open the share menu or ‘save to calendar’ to save the route in your calendar.

Since 9292 supports the iOS share menu, you can send the description in almost any app. The person you share it with will receive a link with which he or she can view the route.

5. No more account needed

You no longer need an account for all this. The app now simply remembers your favorite locations and the trips you’ve added to the home screen.

Download 9292 on the App Store

The 2.0 update is now available to everyone in the App Store. 9292 is completely free to use, but does contain ads in the app. 9292 works great with an internet connection, but do you want to know more about offline navigation? Then our overview below will help you.
