The DS723+ is the successor to the DS720+ and has been adapted to contemporary technology.

The device has 2 slots for HDD/SSD for a maximum of 40 GB with the option for expansion with the DX517 up to 7 slots. The AMD Ryzen R1600 CPU with AVX support is more powerful because the CPU runs at a maximum of 3.1 GHz and the internal PCIe 3 bus also has more capacity. Other optimizations include a slightly faster memory (3200 MHz) and now up to 32GB storage capacity. 2GB of memory is available at purchase, which is somewhat economical if you want to run many applications at the same time.
The network is 2 x 1 Gbps as standard and there is an optional upgrade with a 2.5/10 Gbps adapter. There is a 5Gbps USB-3 port on the front, and an eSATA connection on the back; via the 1Gbps LAN the maximum throughput is approximately 118 MB/sec.
The NAS is sturdy and includes all materials for easy installation of two drives, and there are 2 RJ45 cables.
The DS723+ can work with all applications available through the user-friendly DSM7.x operating system. In addition to a storage device, it can also be used as a multimedia, VPN, web, office and security camera server.
Power consumption is approximately 10 watts in sleep mode and can increase to approximately 30 watts with active drives with 1Gbps data transport. To save energy, the NAS can be switched on/off automatically or via time slots and reactivated via Wake on LAN.
The DS723+ (3-year warranty) is a functionally rich 2-slot NAS with many expansion options, making it ideal for professional home use and small businesses. The standard memory is somewhat limited, but with the new processor more processing power is available for faster processing and more users.
