Samsung Galaxy S24 7 years of updates and spectacular AI functions

The new Samsung Galaxy S24 series has been announced and during the CES in Las Vegas I was able to get started with the various devices and AI functions. In this article I talk about the updates and the great AI functions Live Translate, Live Interpreter, Chat Assist and Circle to Search.

Updates
Samsung promises for the S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra “seven generations of OS upgrades” or you basically get Android upgrades for 7 years, assuming there is a new Android upgrade every year. The S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra also offer seven years of security updates to extend the lifespan. Samsung does indicate that the availability and timing of Android OS upgrades and security updates may vary by device model and market.

New AI features
Samsung is releasing the new AI functions under the name Galaxy AI. AI should improve several aspects of the Galaxy S24 series, from voice and text translations to optimal creative freedom with the Galaxy ProVisual Engine, especially the most important role of our phones: communication. Below are some new features: Live Translate, Live Interpreter, Chat Assist and Circle to Search.
Samsung did indicate in Las Vegas that the entire Galaxy AI Experience will also come to the S23 series and the Tab S9 in the fall.

Live Translate
The Galaxy S24 devices offer many new possibilities, such as communicating without language barriers. Live Translate makes real-time speech and text translations of telephone conversations possible: for example, if you want to book a meal at a restaurant on holiday in a language you do not speak, you can (currently) make a reservation in English and it will be translated immediately . No third-party apps are required, and the built-in AI keeps conversations completely private. Live Translate is currently available in 14 languages ​​and unfortunately not yet in Dutch. Samsung did indicate that Dutch is on the agenda.

Live Interpreter
Interpreter allows live conversations to be translated instantly on a shared screen, so people standing across from each other can read a transcript of what the other person said. This works even without mobile data or WiFi.

Chat Assist
Chat Assist helps perfect the tone of messages and ensures that the message comes across as intended. For example, think of a polite message to a colleague or a short and catchy sentence for social media. The AI ​​in Samsung Keyboard can, among other things, translate real-time messages and emails into thirteen languages. In the car, Android Auto can summarize incoming messages, reply and recommend actions such as sharing estimated time of arrival. This way the user can stay connected without losing focus on the road.

Circle to Search
The Galaxy S24 not only opens the door to the future in communications. It is also the first phone on which Circle to Search with Google is available. By pressing the home button longer, users can circle and highlight anything on the Galaxy S24’s screen for relevant search results. When someone sees a beautiful location in a social media post or discovers a surprising fact on YouTube Shorts, they can quickly get more information without leaving the app. Depending on the location, overviews can be created for specific searches, with information and context from the Internet. Users can then ask questions.
