iOS 17.4 adds 15.1 emoji update for iPhone, iPad and Mac

Emoji lovers pay attention, because new emoticons have been announced. Unicode Consortium, the creators of the Emojis, launched the Emoji 15.1 update announced. The new emoticons were added in the spring of 2024.

The update is limited to 10 brand new emojis that you will soon be able to send and use, including Lime, Shaking Head (vertical and horizontal), Brown Mushroom, Fenix ​​and more. The new emoticons can be used since iOS 17.4, iPadOS 17.4, watchOS 10.4 and macOS Sonoma 14.4.

10 new emoji and combinations

10 new emojis, which is a meager number compared to previous years. The final number is slightly higher, because existing emoji are provided with some innovations. In total, only seven brand new emojis are added, the others are an addition to existing ones or an extension of a new emoji, for example the silhouette emoji. The 2023/2024 emoji update adds the following new emoticons: shaking head horizontally, shaking head vertically, Phoenix, lime, brown mushroom, broken chain, silhouette duo with one child, silhouette with two children, silhouette with one child and silhouette duo with two children.

Furthermore, active emoticons such as the walking, running, kneeling, walking stick, wheelchair and electric wheelchair emoji are also added looking right. The current emojis are all positioned to the left. Click here to view them all.
