Invoxia Smart Dog Collar
The Smart Dog Collar from Invoxia is the first collar in the world with a heart sensor and GPS tracker for your dog. The French company has been working on this special piece of technology for years. The smart dog collar is designed to help owners track their pet’s health and location. In addition, the smart collar can be a useful tool when raising a puppy, you can find more about this at puppyopvoeden.nl.

All data is collected via the app and you gain insight into your dog’s activity and health. With notifications you can be informed and share data with the vet if necessary.
Smart collar options
The Smart Dog Collar offers various options and can collect all kinds of data, we list them for you;
- GPS tracker for exact location
- Heart and respiratory rate at rest
- Registration of activity, vitality and well-being
GPS tracker for exact location
Initially, the Smart Dog Collar is a GPS tracker for your pet, but one that always works. The smart collar, like all Invoxia products, is equipped with a built-in SIM card with support for the LTE-M network.

An LTE-M network is one type mobile network that is specially designed for the Internet of Things (IoT). It stands for Long-Term Evolution for Machines and uses LTE technology to enable wireless communication between IoT devices and the internet.
An LTE-M network offers several advantages compared to traditional mobile networks, such as greater range, better indoor coverage and longer battery life for connected devices. It can also be used to transmit small amounts of data, such as sensor data, required for IoT applications.

The biggest advantage is that smart devices do not rely on other devices to process data. They can always connect to the internet. If your dog runs away, you can find the location of the collar thanks to the GPS and SIM.
Follow the location live
At the time of writing, the location of the tracker is recorded at preset intervals. This way you can have the location updated every two, five or ten minutes. In a future update you can also follow the location of the tracker live. Handy if your dog runs away and you want to search for him accurately immediately.

Receive notification of movement
If desired, you can receive a notification when a walk starts and ends. This has the advantage that you can keep a close eye on the activity and you are alerted when your dog moves. Perhaps this is when you least expect it and so you can take action.
Heart and respiratory rate at rest
The smart collar contains sensors that monitor your dog’s heart and breathing rate in peace can measure. This way you get to know the baseline of vital signs and can quickly detect abnormal changes.

In the application you will find the ‘Health’ tab that gives you insight into your dog’s heart rate and breathing rate. You can open the data and view graphs of different periods. Below these dates you will find brief information.
A healthy heart and breathing rate at rest depends on several factors such as breed, weight, age and more. On average you can say that a heart rate is between 60-120 beats per minute. When the dog sleeps, the heart rate may drop to 30 beats per minute.

Normal breathing for a puppy is about 18 to 20 breaths per minute. An adult dog has a breathing rate of 16 to 18 times per minute at rest. An older dog’s breathing is a bit slower, and is generally between 14 to 16 breaths per minute. Anything between 10 and 30 is considered ‘normal’.
Invoxia has developed a suite of patent-pending sensors combined with artificial intelligence algorithms and collected tens of millions of days of pet activity data to create the most advanced medical-grade dog collar. The breathing rate is 97% accurate, the heart rate is 99% accurate.
Registration of activity, vitality and well-being
Finally, the smart collar also measures your pet’s activity. These include play times, walking, running and resting. It is also recorded when the dog eats and drinks. You can see this neatly in graphs and find out the time. This gives you a good impression of the vitality and well-being of your pet. Finally, wear the collar even more when your dog barks.

Battery life
We are very pleased with the battery life of the collar. You cannot turn off the Smart Dog Collar, but the battery lasts about 2 to 4 weeks. This includes day and night registrations. Charging is possible via USB-C and has a charging time of 2 hours to 80% and 3.5 hours for 100%.
Many functions are still in a testing phase
Although the Smart Dog Collar is already a fully-fledged product, several functions are still in beta. You will notice this clearly on the ‘Activity’ tab. The collar can clearly distinguish between walking, running and resting. But playing, eating, drinking, being petted and barking are still in a testing phase and may not always register the action. Invoxia needs more time and data to properly register the various activities.

Smart collar in practice
In recent weeks we have extensively tested Invoxia’s smart collar. The Collar does exactly what you expect from it: measures your dog’s activity, breathing and heart rate. This appears to be accurate and the application gives you the necessary explanation.
Synchronizing the data sometimes takes a while. In some cases, you open the application and it was only updated a few hours ago. You can choose to always leave the app running in the background, but this will be at the expense of your iPhone’s battery life. Ultimately, all data is synchronized and you can analyze it.

The collar is light and well-shaped so that our Golden Retriever hardly suffers from it. You also shouldn’t place the collar super tight around the neck to get reliable measurements. When I see photos of other dogs, I notice that the collar is quite large for smaller dogs such as a Jack Russel or Chihuahua.
The Smart Dog Collar is an extra collar that you cannot use as a walking collar. One reason is because it can become damaged when the dog exhibits a large pulling force.
Conclusion: Smart Dog Collar
REVIEW SCORE
The Smart Dog Collar from Invoxia is an advanced product that gives you insight into your dog’s activity and health. Not only can you track your dog’s location, its breathing rate and resting heart rate are also closely monitored.
With a hefty purchase price and mandatory subscription, the collar is anything but cheap. Therefore, not all owners will be eager to buy this collar for their beloved pet. Obviously it is a useful tool to gain insight into your dog’s activity and health, but this may not be for everyone. If you are always at home, the collar adds little value (regardless of the health measurements), because you know when your dog is active, drinking or eating.
Do you have a dog that regularly runs away, is often alone or runs loose outside? Then this collar is a smart solution. You can closely monitor activity, including location, breathing and heart rate.
The application gets better with every update, but many features are still in beta or not yet released. The Smart Dog Collar is therefore a product that will improve considerably over time. The current version is fine, but there are still areas for improvement or features that we are waiting for.
- Stylish and lightweight design with interchangeable straps
- Measure activity such as walking, playing, eating, drinking, barking and more
- Monitor breathing rate and heart rate at rest
- Long battery life of 2 to 4 weeks (depending on update frequency)
- Useful application with extensive information and data
- Many functions are not yet available or are in testing phase
- Mandatory subscription that is quite expensive
- Data synchronization is regularly delayed
- Only measure heart rate at rest and not during activity
