If you want to install apps on your iPhone or iPad, you must download them from the App Store. This has changed since iOS 17.4. Apple users in the EU will soon be able to install iPhone apps outside the Apple App Store through sideloading.

The tech company thus complies with European legislation that requires multiple installation options. In a news report, Apple announced the changes so that developers are aware of what to expect. The new options have been available to users in the 27 EU countries since March 5, 2024, but developers must first offer alternative App Stores.

Since iOS 14 and iPadOS 14, it has been possible to use another standard web browser on your iPhone or iPad instead of Safari. The obligation to use Apple’s own browser has therefore expired for some time, but that was not enough for the EU.

Emoji lovers pay attention, because new emoticons have been announced. Unicode Consortium, the creators of the Emojis, announced the Emoji 15.1 update last summer. The new emoticons were added in the spring of 2024.

The update is limited to 10 brand new emojis that you will soon be able to send and use, including Lime, Shaking Head (vertical and horizontal), Brown Mushroom, Fenix ​​and more. The new emoticons can be used since iOS 17.4, iPadOS 17.4, watchOS 10.4 and macOS Sonoma 14.4.
