Since iOS 17, iPadOS 17 and macOS Sonoma, you can use family passwords. This is part of Keychain and ensures that you can easily share passwords and Passkeys with other Apple users.
Contrary to the name, you can also share these passwords with people who are not members of Family Sharing. You can create groups via the keychain and easily add login details that all members can then use. Useful with your colleagues, family members or friends.
Create a shared password group
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad
- Navigate to Passwords
- The first time, choose ‘Get started’ under ‘Family passwords
- Read the information and choose ‘Continue’
- Change the group name and add members
- Select the desired passwords

On a Mac, you can create this for the first time via  ▸ System Settings ▸ Passwords ▸ Family Passwords.
Create new shared group
Of course, you can also create a new shared group for passwords and passkeys afterwards. To do this, open Settings â–¸ Passwords on your iPhone or iPad or â–¸ System Settings â–¸ Passwords on your Mac. Then tap or click the plus button and choose ‘New shared group’.
Then you can change the group name and add members. Choose ‘Create’ and select the desired login details to move them to the shared password group.

Move password
Open the shared group in the Password settings and tap or click the plus button. Then choose ‘Move passwords to group’ and select the desired login details.
