Since iPadOS 17, the Health application can also be used on an iPad for the first time. This also allows you to view and manage your entire health data on the larger screen.
Health for iPad is more than just a display of all collected data, you can also easily manually add new data and expand your health profile. The larger screen is also a welcome addition when you share health data.
Health for iPad
The Health app has been exclusive to iPhone since iOS 8 and can therefore not be used on any other Apple device. Since iPadOS 17, you can also use the Health app on the iPad. Via iCloud, all collected data is securely synchronized and stored encrypted on the device. You can then easily view and evaluate your health data from the large screen.

Additionally, the Health app for iPhone and iPad has received several visual tweaks so you can analyze the data at a glance.
Add data manually
- Open the Health application
- Tap ‘Data’
- Navigate to a category, e.g. Activity
- Tap on an item, for example walking and running distance
- Tap ‘Add details’ at the top
- Enter the requested values

This way you can easily add data that is not automatically added to the application. Would you like to check which apps have access to Health? Then tap the ‘Overview’ tab; or ‘Explore’ on your profile picture and navigate to ‘Apps’.
Limit screen distance
Viewing a device or book too closely increases the risk of myopia. The new Screen Distance feature uses the TrueDepth camera (which is also used for Face ID on iPad and iPhone) to encourage you to hold your device further away if the distance has been less than 30cm for a long time. You can decide whether you use this feature or disable it.
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad
- Navigate to ‘Screen Time’
- Choose ‘Screen distance’
- Enable or disable the option

Share health data
If you wish, you can share your health information with people who are important to you or who care for you. Choose which data and trends you want to share, for example heart health, activity, medical ID, vital signs or your cycle. The function is mainly intended to keep an eye on things when necessary. Thanks to the addition of iPadOS, you can easily view the shared data on the big screen.
