Search for Apple Pencil Pro using the Find My app and Bluetooth

In most cases, the Apple Pencil Pro will always be attached to your iPad when you are not using it. If it does come loose, or you have left it lying around somewhere, you can find it with the Find My app for iPad or iPhone.

Just like with a set of AirPods or other Find My accessories, you can find the Apple Pencil Pro using the Bluetooth signal. In the application you can view the current status, where it was last seen and you can search for it manually.

Once you have linked the Pencil to the Find My app, you can view the status of the smart stylus on your iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch, but unfortunately this is not possible on a Mac.

  • Open the Find My app
  • Navigate to the Apple Pencil
  • Check the status

If the Apple Pencil is magnetically attached to the iPad, you will also see this in the Find My app. If the Pencil is not attached, you can start the search by tapping ‘Search’. You will then see information on the screen regarding the current or most recent status of the Apple Pencil. For example, the app indicates whether the Pencil is nearby or what its last seen location is.
