Since iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, it is finally possible to have music tracks flow into each other while playing a playlist or album, for example. You can decide how many seconds yourself and this means there is never any silence.
Crossfade has been available for macOS for years, even dating back to the iTunes era. Support for iOS and iPadOS lets you blend songs together while playing on your iPhone or iPad. Please note that the feature is not available while using AirPlay.
Set up crossfade on iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings
- Navigate to ‘Music’
- Enable the ‘Crossfade’ option
- Adjust the seconds via the slide switch

You have been able to use this on a Mac for some time. To do this, open the Music app and click on Music â–¸ Settings â–¸ Playback in the menu bar. Enable the ‘Blend’ option and choose the number of seconds you want.
