The design of the control panel has been adjusted from iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. As a user, you have more options to make the control center better suit your way of working. This way you can adjust all the controls and place them in a different location.
The new control panel interface makes it even easier to access the controls you use often. The panel now consists of several pages with a separate place for music, home and network connections. Developers can also add shortcuts to the control center so you can perform even more tasks faster.
Renewed control panel interface
From iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 you can use the new interface for the control center. This has round shapes and fits better with the new design that Apple has been using for several years. The control panel gives you quick access to various settings, functions and apps.
You probably use the panel most for music, home and network connections. For that reason, Apple has added extra pages to the control panel so that you can operate these components directly.

Open Control Center
As in previous versions of iOS and iPadOS, you can quickly open the Control Center by Swiping down from the top right corner of the screen.
Customize control panel
Personalizing and adjusting the control panel is very easy and can be done directly from the panel itself. You also get a good view of all the controls and options, so that you immediately have an impression of how the panel will ultimately take shape.
- Open the control panel
- Tap the plus button at the top left or place your finger on an empty space
- Drag the parts to another location

Adjust size controls
During editing you will find an arc in the corner of each control. You can use this to change the size of the controller. This way you can display a shortcut extra large, elongated or even a small circle.
Add new parts
- Open the control panel
- Tap the plus button at the top left
- Choose ‘Add a controller’
- An overview of parts opens
- Select a desired controller

In the overview you will find all available controls, including a preview of the information that a shortcut can display. Here you will not only find controls from Apple, but also shortcuts from other apps.
Using pages in Control Center
To get even more out of the control center, Apple has added extra pages. By swiping up or down on the control panel you can view the other pages and groups. As standard, you will find a page to control your music, speakers and TVs, a view for home accessories and an overview of all network connections.
- Music: On the music page you can easily control music you are currently playing. This can be on your iPhone or iPad, but also on other speakers and TVs in your home (HomeKit or AirPlay).
- Home: Direct access to a large ‘widget’ with suggestions for home accessories and scenes.
- Network connections: Enable or disable various network settings, including VPN
- Empty page: Create even more pages with controls exactly the way you want them

On these pages you can change the size of the controls and add additional components if necessary. Would you rather not use them? Then delete the shortcut, because empty pages are not shown.
Turn off iPhone or iPad
You may have noticed that turning off an iPhone or iPad is not that easy at all. Often you have to press and hold a volume and side button simultaneously to show the power off screen. In addition, you can also show the switch off screen via Settings â–¸ General â–¸ Turn off. This will be even faster from iOS 18 and iPadOS 18. Open Control Center, then tap the power button in the top right corner.
Controllers in multiple places
The new controls can not only be used in the Control Panel, you can also find the shortcuts in other places. You can also link the controls to the action button on an iPhone 15 Pro (Max) and on the lock screen.
Change lock screen buttons
- Place your finger on the Lock screen to start editing
- Choose ‘Customize’
- Tap ‘Access Screen’
- Delete the current shortcut, for example flashlight
- Tap the plus button
- Choose a controller

This way you can set different shortcuts per lock screen, handy! It is good to know that you can easily delete the camera shortcut. The Camera app opens immediately when you swipe left from the right side of the screen on the lock screen.
