Are you also distracted by your iPhone all day long? Then Dumb Phone is the app that can help you during your work, for example.
Dumb Phone reduces distractions
Dumb Phone from developer Michael Tigas has a minimalist design and is designed to minimize distractions. The goal is to turn your iPhone into a tool again, instead of a device you spend your entire day scrolling aimlessly (which is the case for many people). Dumb Phone also makes it possible to reach the apps you have selected with one hand.
Setting up your Dumb Phone on your iPhone is very easy. You use the Dumb Phone app to create an interactive widget. You select one to six apps that you want to have easy access to. Those apps are placed in a large widget. Then you choose a background (which is in the app) that is the same color as the widget. This creates a clean look.
Finally, you need to remove the apps from the dock. It is not possible to remove them based on a focus mode. That is a limitation of iOS, not the app. Once you have removed the dock apps, you put the Dumb Phone app in the dock.
How to use the app
How you use Dumb Phone will be different for everyone. Some people can use it all day long. Others only at certain times. Or maybe only on the weekends. You can set a focus mode so that your iPhone only turns into a “dumb phone” when you enable that focus mode.
The combination of the monotonous look, the lack of notifications and the extra effort required to access other apps certainly makes for much less distraction. Nevertheless, your iPhone remains a useful tool, as you can still quickly and easily access your selected apps.
