This is why the iPhone event is taking place on a Monday

The iPhone event is on a Monday this year, which is strange. Normally the keynote is always held on a Tuesday. But what is the reason for this?

In previous years, you always had to make sure you were ready for the iPhone event on Tuesday. But this year is different. Because this time, the iPhone event will take place on Monday, September 9, 2024. The event starts at 7 p.m., Dutch time.

This is why the iPhone event is taking place on a Monday

The iPhone event is usually almost always on a Tuesday, unless there are very special reasons for it. Apple sometimes holds events on a Monday, but that is usually not an iPhone event. For example, the first day of WWDC is almost always on a Monday.

So there must be a good reason why Apple decided to hold the iPhone event on a different day this time. But Apple does that more often, for example the keynote was also on a Wednesday. This was for example because Tuesday fell on September 11th (9/11).

This time too, the iPhone event will be held on a different day, but now on a Monday. The last time an iPhone appeared on this day was with the iPhone 4 on June 7, 2010. That was during the keynote of WWDC 2010. The iPhone did not have its own event at that time.

But why is the iPhone event being moved now? That’s because the debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris is going to take place on September 10th. The Wednesday after that is also not an option, because there can still be a lot of discussion about the debate afterwards.

It promises to be a very extensive Apple event, because Apple will not only unveil the four versions of the new iPhone 16. We also expect presentations of other Apple devices, such as the AirPods 4, Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 3.
